RISE UP for Girls Event

I always believe in being more than who I am each passing day and I am grateful that I have had many opportunities to do so; even surprising myself with the opportunities I have had and how far I have pushed myself. One aspect of this is my relationship with photography. I have grown over these few years and captured a number of beautiful shots. I still amaze myself what I capture at times (given I can't draw to save my life). Unfortunately, many are not so fortunate to even get educated and they get discriminated for who or what they are. We often take for granted the simple pleasures in life and also our good fortune.

Whilst I may not be able to proactively fighting to change the world all the time, I like to still do my part in giving back to society where I can. With this, one of the ways I can contribute is by helping out to volunteer and promote a charity event that is close to my heart - Bodhicitta Foundation's RISE UP for girls Charity Event that will be taking place on 8 August 2015 (SATURDAY) 6 – 9pm at Glebe Town Hall. I will be there to take photos and would love for you to join in this good cause. It is not a religious event but one that is truly a charitable one to help girls to be educated. Come and join me for that night.

Here is the official write up for this wonderful charity event:

Very often we talk about change. When we hear of the less fortunate, our compassion may arise and we want to help them but don’t know how or where to start. When we hear of those in poverty, our generosity may arise but we don’t know where to send our resources. When we hear of those who can’t go to school but who want an education, our wisdom may arise but don’t know how to share our knowledge.

Now is the time to turn our compassion to action; our generosity to valuable investment to better the lives of others; and our wisdom to educate the future generation of children so they have a chance to make the most of their life for themselves and their future generations to come. Bodhicitta Foundation invites you to participate in this noble cause and to discover your own empowerment in the society that you live in.

Join us in a night of charity and celebration. Enjoy finger food & music as we hear from notable guest speakers and culminating the night in watching the profound film, Girl Rising. Proceeds from the night will go towards educating girls in Indian slums. Girl Rising, directed by Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, presents the remarkable stories of nine girls around the world, told by celebrated writers and voiced by renowned actors such as Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Liam Neeson. The art of storytelling is used to deliver a simple critical truth: Educate Girls and You Will Change the World.

Come and see the strength of the human spirit. Come and learn about the power of education to change the world.Come and find out how you too can be the agents of change as we Rise Up and become the masters of our life.
