I have finally organised another entry for my Portfolio - Weddings and Special Events. Although it is an album at present, I think it is a good start. As usual, I will be uploading more over time. The gallery that I decided to load up is a small selection of photos I took when I did a photoshoot for a Bangladeshi wedding in Sydney, Australia. Nothing beats attending a cultural based wedding that is of beautiful sights, sound and flavours; all a truly amazing experience.

This Bangladeshi wedding was very special and very different to other weddings I have attended as it was in 3 separate events:

Day 1: The Nikah. This is when the religious marriage solemnization takes place and also when the legal papers were signed off. Typically, close friends and family will attend this.

Day 2: Gaye Holud. In Bengali, it is a ceremony of yellow/tumeric on the body. The guests are invited to "bless" or give well wishes to the couple by applying a tumeric paste on the couple. Guests can choose to also feed the couple with sweets instead of applying the tumeric paste. Friends and family will be invited for Gaye Holud and will be dressed to the nines for this colourful event.

Day 3: The Wedding Reception. Friends and families join in to celebrate with well wishes, food and dance. Close family members will also give speeches of the bride and groom. I managed to pull together a collection of photos from the prior events to put together a rolling video of the photos taken from the prior events.

Do you like how I have taken these shots? If yes, please feel free to contact me by email if you would to have me capture photos of your special event. Location is not an issue as what's important is you and your loved ones enjoying the experience. Once we have determined what you would like, we can discuss further the details of the photoshoot.
