Zombie Walk 88

Zombie Walk 2015

Halloween is becoming increasingly popular in Sydney with many parties and dress up events. This year with it falling on a Saturday, parties started from Friday itself. Wonderfully, this year's annual Zombie Walk of Sydney coincided with Halloween - 31 Oct 2015. The Zombie Walk is an amazing charity event for the Brain Foundation but also a beautiful street portrait opportunity for street photographers. Fundraisers would all "zombie" up with many spending hours (with some over 4 hours) to make sure their cosmetics and even prosthetic are realistic enough.

It was really cool to see friends, families, those with special needs an even pets participating in this event. With the costumes and make up on, people were no longer strangers as many took group shots together. Many got into their character and portrayed convincingly. As people were prepping, every other corner you will hear screams as some were frightened with those who dressed up as they were so realistic. And as many Zombies there were, there were also many photographers. Everyone (well, almost everyone) was busy taking photos of the Zombies, of themselves with Zombies and Zombies with Zombies. I have to say, the best line I heard while walking around to shoot was "My most hated word after today will be selfie" from a Zombie.

So, enough of me rating, you can see the photos I took that day here. All shots were taken handheld and with natural lighting.
